Weekend at
Sierra’s
Picture me: It’s Friday, I’m at work and Sierra
texts me to tell me that she is really sad because her friends, who are
supposed to be visiting her this weekend, are being flakey. I tell her that’s
frustrating, try to be the understanding and sympathy giver. I then think “How
can I be a better friend right now?” So I ask her what her plans are tonight,
tell her that I will come up and not be flakey. She says thank you and politely
declines, tells me that she will just pick up a shift and go to a work party.
But I persist, I can tell she is still sad and just being brave. Or at least,
this is what I picture. Because I am that type of person, so I immediately push
my reactions into the mind of my dear friend. I tell her I’m coming (with a lot
of apologies and making sierra promise I’m not imposing)
The weekend turned out to be lovely. We had a
really chilled out Friday night full of chatting, chic flicks, and the sims. I
think Sierra and I are very similar types of friends in that we don’t have to
be doing anything at all to be having a good time. We can just co-exist
together and find it very satisfying. We’re sort of like a married couple in
that way (or like her and Art).
Saturday we picked up Tori, and went to a
really neat café that reminded me a lot of My Dog Joe in Westdale. Only this
place was a lot more hipster, a lot more vegetarian, and truthfully… a lot more
delicious. (To be fair, I’ve only ever had cookies from My Dog Joe and a panini
that had tomatoes in it during a time that I did not appreciate tomatoes –
still don’t know if I like sun dried tomatoes. Still may not like that panini)
The day progressed as a typical girl’s weekend.
We were gluttonous with brownies and sweet chili heat Doritos, we watched chick
flick after chick flick and Tori, who is in school to be a masseuse, gave us
each a really wonderful massage.
The night was spent getting ready for a
Valentine’s night rave that had an Alice in Wonderland theme. It was set in a
really cool venue that had different art pieces on the walls, two chill-out
rooms. I have to say that the chill out room directly off of the dance room was
my favourite. It was a really cozy room with blankets and pillows, sheets.
I had a great weekend. I have a great
friendship with Sierra. I love her to bits.
